Video: Residents Of Assin Protest Over Having A Suspected Covid-19 Family Quarantined In Their Town

Residents of Assin disapproves having their town as a quarantine centre and have protest against it.

The Central Region recorded its first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on April 9.

The Ghana Health Service’s regular updates indicated that the patient was identified and tested positive as a result of the ongoing enhanced contact tracing exercise.

The patient has been admitted to a hospital in Accra immediately after proven positive to the novel Coronavirus.

However, the patient’s family has been quarantined after they reportedly had personal contact with the first person to test positive in Centra Region.

A trending video of residents of the Assin angrily objecting having their town as a quarantine centre has been fast trending on social media platforms.

According to them, they’re deprived of any improvements initiatives but for death, the government is bringing to their town.

From the video, the narrator could be heard saying the family were first rejected by Augustines Senior High School and also Afutu but they found a senior high school in Assin to get them isolated into.

Assin members displayed signs of disapproval as they blocked the entrance of the school serving as an isolation center with branches of trees.
