A 6-year-old girl in New Jersey, New York, is being credited with saving the lives of her parents and younger brother when a fire broke out in her home.

The girl, Madalyn Karlbon, woke up early on Sunday to alert her parents and small brother to a fire in their home. According to Fire Official, Cory S. Spillar, all of them were able to evacuate the home safely.

Their home, however, has been deemed uninhabitable due to fire, smoke, and water damage on the first floor and smoke damage on the second floor. The family is temporarily staying at a hotel.

According to the Avenel Fire Department, Madalyn woke up to a burning sensation in her eyes and throat. She also heard the smoke detector alarm sounds in the home.

Madalyn went to wake up her mother, who was downstairs, but she was unable to wake her up. She then decided to go upstairs to wake her dad, who woke up to get her and her brother out of the house. He then went back into the home to get the mother out.
