FrimpongThe Bono East Region has recorded 15 suspected cases of the deadly coronavirus according to health authorities.
Techiman North District Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) Dr. Michael Rockson Adjei who made the revelation added that all except 3 have tested negative.
“We have recorded about 15 suspected cases in the region. Twelve of the cases have turned out negative but we have sent the samples of three others to Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) and are awaiting the results”, he revealed on a local radio station.
Dr. Michael Rockson Adjei appealed to residents to adhere to the health protocols of the World Health Organization (WHO) through social distancing, washing of hands regularly under running water and use of sanitizer.
“If you do not have anything very critical to do in town please stay at home so that you do not contract the virus that puts you and your family at risk”, he advised.
The Bono East Region is one of the virgin reasons as far as the number of reported confirmed cases of coronavirus is concerned.
Ghana as at April 8, 2020 recorded a total 313 cases with 6 deaths.
The regional distribution of the cases are as follows: Greater Accra Region has most cases (274) followed by the Ashanti Region (25), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1), Upper East Region (1) and Central Region (1).
Ghana Health Service further said, “With regards to enhanced contact tracing and testing, as at 7th April 2020, a total of 11,016 samples from contacts have been processed and 37 (0.34%) have been confirmed positive for COVID-19”.
