FrimpongGhanaian top-flight side Medeama have called off their move for high-rated Burkinabe striker Songne Yacouba, a close source to the club has told Joy Sports.
The Mauves and Yellows decided against signing the attacker because of his outrageous financial demands just when the deal was set to be completed.
The club and Yacouba along with his representatives met on Thursday and reached a mutual agreement for the deal to be finalized but the player made a u-turn on his financial entitlement.
Medeama cancelled a planned last-minute meeting on Friday to bring closure to his pursuit.
According to the source, the player is demanding $100,000 a year contract, an amount the club deems ridiculous considering the player is at the twilight of his career.
The 28-year-old is a free agent after parting ways with Asante Kotoko at the end of last month.
The Porcupine Warriors refused to extend his contract as they also felt his financial demands were outrageous. Yacouba was demanding $150,000-a-year salary to stay at the club.
Before his contract came to an end, Kotoko froze him out of the first team for several weeks.
Yacouba is one of the highly-rated strikers in the local league having impressed greatly since joining Kotoko in 2018 from Mali’s Stade Malien.
