Farmer Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison for Theft 46

A 31-year-old farmer, Isaac Atimbisa, has been sentenced to eight months in prison by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court for stealing foodstuffs from a farm in Sepaase, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality. The conviction followed a swift intervention by vigilant community members.

The accused, Atimbisa had stolen six bunches of plantain and two sacks of cassava, valued at GH₵350.00, and was about to transport the goods when he was apprehended by local residents. Joseph Amankwah, the owner of the farm, became suspicious after spotting Atimbisa by the roadside with the stolen produce. He quickly raised the alarm, enlisting the help of neighbors to confront the thief.

Upon questioning, Atimbisa admitted to the theft and was handed over to the Sepaase Police. He later led authorities to the farm where he had committed the crime.

The case, prosecuted by Police Inspector Evans Baaba Ayimbisa, resulted in Atimbisa pleading guilty and being convicted on his own plea by the court presided over by Mrs. Philomina Asiedu.
