Nigerian actress Regina Daniels recently addressed public reactions to her statement about having numerous boyfriends before marrying businessman and politician Ned Nwoko.
Taking to Instagram, Daniels clarified that these relationships were platonic rather than physical, explaining that her intention was to share a message of empowerment for young women.
In her post, Daniels reiterated that she entered her marriage with Nwoko as a virgin, refuting rumors to the contrary. She explained that she aimed to encourage young girls to understand that relationships with men, even those who offer support, should have boundaries.
She wrote on Instagram: “Hey everyone I want to clarify the 20 boyfriends solely to soothe my husband and also educate young girls that having several male/boyfriends willing to do things for you doesn’t mean you owe them your body. And oh yes. I did have a lot but I made a promise to keep my virginity till my marriage. And guess what? I did!!!. It’s a big flex.
“But hold on ! What did you guys expect na ? It was your little beautiful sweetheart, Regina Daniels of course men and ladies would admire. So everyone chill pls”.
Her goal, she emphasized, was to inspire girls to value themselves and to remind them that friendships do not necessitate a physical relationship.
