Diella TekuA tragic robbery at a filling station in Dormabin, Oti Region, has claimed the life of a customer who was mistaken for a station attendant. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, around 7:45 PM, when armed robbers stormed the premises and fled with GH¢9,000 in cash.
The victim, a young man who had stopped at the station to refuel, sustained gunshot wounds when the assailants fired at him before carrying out their heist. Journalist Kingsley Mamore of Oti Radio in Dambai reported that the victim was rushed to the Dormabin CHPS facility for initial treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the Worawora Government Hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries while in transit.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing incident, describing how the robbers mistook the victim for a pump attendant before opening fire. “They entered the premises, opened fire on him, and eventually made away with GH¢9,000,” Mamore narrated.
In the wake of the robbery, the police have increased patrols in the community to prevent similar occurrences and assure residents of their safety.
Authorities have yet to identify or apprehend the perpetrators. The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
This tragic event has heightened concerns over the safety of public spaces in the region, with residents calling for enhanced security measures to protect businesses and individuals.
