Diella TekuThe Ghana Police Service has implemented traffic guidelines and road diversions to ensure safety and order during the final rallies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), scheduled for today, Thursday, December 5, 2024.
With both rallies expected to draw massive crowds, these measures aim to prevent clashes between supporters and minimize disruptions in Accra. The NPP’s event will take place at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, while the NDC will gather at Zurak Park in Madina.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, December 4, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, detailed the traffic arrangements:

To manage traffic flow and ensure safety, the police will establish a roadblock in front of the NDC rally venue in Madina. Officers will also be stationed along major routes to assist road users and monitor vehicular and pedestrian movement.
The Ghana Police Service has appealed to both political parties to ensure their supporters conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions that could lead to disturbances.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi urged rally participants to cooperate with law enforcement to guarantee a safe and orderly environment for the conclusion of campaign activities. She emphasized that discipline and adherence to guidelines are crucial for maintaining harmony between supporters of both parties.
As the December 7 general elections approach, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety while navigating the city during these high-profile events.
