Diella TekuThe Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that the final results of the 2024 General Elections will be declared today, December 9, at 4:30 PM. The much-anticipated announcement will be broadcast live, allowing Ghanaians nationwide to follow the proceedings.
At a press briefing held in Accra, the Deputy EC Commissioner of Operations, Samuel Tettey, urged political party supporters to avoid gathering at the National Collation Centre, emphasizing that such gatherings are both unnecessary and unlawful.
“There is no need for supporters of political parties to besiege the national collation centre. This is illegal and unwarranted,” Tettey stated. He reiterated that access to the collation centre is strictly limited to individuals with proper accreditation.
To ensure public access to the declaration, the EC has made arrangements for a live broadcast, assuring transparency and inclusivity.
“All others can watch live the declaration of the results at 4:30 PM,” he added.
Tettey also called on all Ghanaians, particularly party supporters, to remain calm and patient as the EC finalizes the collation process.
“We understand the anticipation, but it is crucial for all parties to exercise restraint and respect the process. The transparency of this election remains our utmost priority,” he said.
The declaration of the 2024 election results has been highly anticipated, with heightened tensions and public interest following a fiercely contested electoral process. As Ghanaians await the announcement, the EC’s reassurance of a fair and transparent process seeks to maintain public confidence in the nation’s democratic institutions.
All eyes are now on the EC as the clock ticks down to the official declaration of the results, marking a pivotal moment in Ghana’s political history.
