Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his congratulations to Ghana’s President-elect John Dramani Mahama following his victory in the December 7 polls. In his congratulatory message, President Xi highlighted the enduring partnership between China and Ghana, emphasizing the historical and strategic significance of their diplomatic relationship.

President Xi commended Ghana for being among the first sub-Saharan African nations to establish diplomatic ties with China, a move that laid the foundation for a deep and mutually beneficial partnership. “The China-Ghana friendship has a long history and has grown stronger with time,” he remarked.

In recent years, the bilateral relationship between the two nations has witnessed substantial progress. President Xi underscored the “sound momentum of development” in their ties, marked by successful collaborations across various fields.

The Chinese leader expressed his commitment to advancing these relations further under President Mahama’s leadership. “I attach great importance to the development of China-Ghana relations and stand ready to work with President-elect John Mahama to carry forward our traditional friendship,” President Xi stated.

President Xi outlined his vision for a deeper and more robust strategic partnership, built on mutual political trust and shared development goals. This, he noted, would not only strengthen the China-Ghana bond but also bring tangible benefits to the citizens of both nations.

The congratulatory message reflects China’s recognition of Ghana as a pivotal ally in Africa and signals a continued commitment to fostering cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange.

As President-elect John Mahama prepares to assume office, the reaffirmed support from China highlights the global significance of Ghana’s leadership and its role in fostering international collaboration.
