WHO WAS PILAR PELLICER
Originally from Villahermosa, Tabasco, she debuted as an actress in the movie “The doll seller” in 1955. Simultaneously, with her sister Pina Pellicer, she began working in film.
In 1959, he was in the film by the renowned Spanish director Luis Buñuel “Nazarín”, where he shared the scene with Marga López, Rita Macedo, Ignacio López Tarso and Ofelia Guilmáin, among others. That same year, he received a scholarship from the French Institute for Latin America to study acting in Paris, France, where he spent six years working in film, television and theatre.
During this time, she married the American sculptor James Meccalf, with whom she had her daughter, Ariane. They were married for 15 years, but the marriage ended in divorce.
In recent years, he produced plays and directed movies. She lived in Polanco, in Mexico City with her second husband, the lawyer Javier Gallástegui. He had a granddaughter, Eréndira. His filmography included 43 feature films.
The Mexican Film Academy also noted that Pilar Pellicer won the Ariel for best actress in 1975 for her participation in the movie “La choca” .
