FrimpongMember of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem, Samuel Atta Mills has kicked against any form of investigation to unravel and publicise the cause of death of late President John Atta-Mills.
Samuel Atta-Mills, who is brother to the late President, insists that the probe is unnecessary noting the controversy surrounding the cause of his death is politically motivated.
He disclosed that an autopsy was done to ascertain the cause of death before the former Head of State was buried and the family is not interested in conducting any other investigation into the matter.
John Evans Atta Mills was President from 2009 until his death in June 2012. The cause of his death has been shrouded in controversy just as the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.
Calls for investigation into the death of the former President resurfaced this month after former President John Dramani Mahama accused Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) of alleging he (John Mahama) had a hand in the death of the former President.
The Criminal Investigations Department has begun investigating the matter after a complaint was filed by the former President. Despite this, Abronye DC maintains he has evidence to back his wild claims.
Speaking on Okay FM on Wednesday, the brother of former President Mills said people always find ways of rekindling the controversy around the death of President Mills when it is election time.
According to him, only people who get drunk on local gin, Akpeteshie are claiming there has not been any autopsy into the death of the former President.
He insisted that the family has the autopsy report and are satisfied with it.
“Whenever it is getting near to our brother’s anniversary, people start doing politics with it. I was with him at 5 am in the morning until God called him in the afternoon. During the autopsy, I was there at the 37 Military Hospital with his doctors. So if people get drunk on Akpeteshie, they just sit on the radio and start saying his autopsy was not conducted. We are pleading that they should allow us to grieve our brother, they should allow us to forget this issue, they shouldn’t bring this matter up again
“Sometimes I get really hurt when people sit on the radio and they keep saying there was no autopsy conducted. My brother has become Vice President, he has become a president and God has called him why can’t people leave him to rest in peace, and every time people want to play politics. Those who are using that to do politics should be careful, sometimes I wonder if those people have elders in their home, I just want to say they shouldn’t be doing this, if you talk too much about dead people, in the future you may be called to give account,” he stated.
The MP added, “The family is satisfied with the autopsy. Before we buried President Mills at Asomdwe park, we had to show an autopsy report. We go to AMA, to get burial permit before we can bury them there and so we showed the autopsy report so the person who came to sit on the radio to say that he called a veterinarian to look into the death of his goat, I don’t see the difference between him and a goat. If we make the autopsy public, how will people know this is true or false? People just want to do politics with everything in this country. Why aren’t people asking for what killed other heads of state?”
