Reddit co-founder has quit the site in the wake of violent protests across America over police brutality and racial discrimination of black African-Americans.
Announcing his resignation as a Reddit board member, Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian Sr. indirectly drew to attention his departure from the American social news and discussion site was long overdue and was a right thing to do for the forum that has long been criticised for promoting racist content.
Ohanian, who is married to the legendary Tennis player Serena Williams, founded social media website Reddit 15 years ago with his college roommates Aaron Swartz and Steve Huffman.
Together they have a baby girl daughter – Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., whom he claims to resign for the sake of.
In a series of Tweets, he mentioned his daughter as the catalyst to his resignation because of the fact he “as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: ‘What did you do?”
