Former Hearts of Oak attacking midfielder Torric Jebrin says himself and other Ghanaian players in DR Congo are currently stranded.

Jebrin who plays for TP Mazembe in the Central Africa country has disclosed that himself and other Ghanaian players have been left stranded after the league season in the country was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Due to the closure of all Ghanaian borders by the government as part of measures to mitigate the spread of the devastating disease, the players couldn’t return to Ghana when the league season in DR Congo was cancelled.

In an interview with Accra-based Angel FM, the 29-year old pleaded with the Ghana FA and the government to immediately evacuate them from DR Congo to Ghana since they have spent all their monies on rent and food after football in the country was cancelled.

“We are stranded here [DR Congo]. We have spent all our monies on food and rent. We don’t have food to eat, we can’t afford to pay our rents so we have all moved to leave with one of our colleague in one room and we are pleading with Government
to come to our aid”, Jebrin said.

He appealed following a cry from another set of Ghanaian players in Ethiopia who are also stranded after football there was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Already, the Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry are liaising to evacuate the stranded 21 players in Ethiopia to Ghana as soon as possible.
