Aggrieved home use fridge dealers in Kumasi Ashanti Region, hit the street to reconsider the decision of the government on the banned of importation of used fridge in Ghana.
If you could recall under the Mutual agreement which prescribe the ban on the use of R12 gases which is harmful to the earth Ozone Layer.
The standard and certified gases which are supposed to used in the filling of refrigerators compressors are R600A and R 134A
Dealers of used refrigerators and importers complied with these directives and started importing fridges fitted with the R600A and R134A compressors which are also used on the brand new fridges.
But what do we see today, when our fridges are imported, deliberately they are ceased by customs officials at port Which is frustrating and has rendered most of our importers and sellers jobless.
What we are asking the government is, if they are not able to honour their promises they should allow us to do our business which has affected the lives of about 100,000 people jobless nationwide directly or indirectly.
