Former powerful Mayor of Kumasi Nana Akwasi Agyeman has died Tuesday morning.
Family sources say, the maverick politician joined his ancestors at the Intensive Care Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he had been receiving medical attention for several days.
During his twelve or more years in office, Nana Akwasi Agyeman affectionately called Okumkom by residents of Kumasi was ruthless often cracking the whip on persons who flouted the KMA by-laws especially traders.
Okumkom who vied for the Ashanti throne was ranked by many as the all-time best Mayor who had the development of Kumasi in his heart and always ensured lawless activities were never countenanced.
