President Akufo-Addo says he has in the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a first-class assistant who continues to support him a great deal in the governance of the country.
Addressing the Chiefs, Elders and People of Walewale in the North East Region today the 22nd of June 2021, as part of his two-day working visit to the region, President Akufo-Addo, said he is grateful to the people of Walewale for giving him and by extension, the country, their son, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, to partner him in the exercise of executive authority in the nation.
“I want to end by saying a big thank you to the North East, especially the people of Walewale. You have given me a first-class assistant in the form of the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia. He has been of great help to me in my governance” President Akufo-Addo said.
2021 Census
In his remarks, President Akufo-Addo, reminded the people of the North East Region of the upcoming 2021 population and housing census (PHC) which commences on Sunday, the 27th of June 2021.
He urged all the people of Walewale, the North East Region and the rest of the country to ensure that they get counted.
“I appeal to each one of you, to the chiefs, to all the people in the region, everybody, I say everybody, with discrimination, should allow themselves to be counted. Whatever your tribe, or religion, as long as you are here on 27th, get counted” President Akufo-Addo appealed.
COVID-19
On COVID-19, President Akufo-Addo observed that the people of the North East Region have given great support to the efforts of government in ensuring that the pandemic is contained in their region.
He urged the people of the region to continue respecting the COVID-19 protocols as that is the surest way to keep the virus in check.
“The North East has done very well on the COVID phenomenon, the numbers a very low and they continue to be very low. The example that has been set in this room, with all the big chiefs in this gathering are all masked is a good example for the rest of the country and the people of the North-East Region” the President noted.
Regular Tour
President Akufo-Addo began what has become characteristic of his presidency, touring of all sixteen (16) of the country in every given year, in the Upper East region yesterday the 21st of June 2021.
The President turned his attention to the North East Region for a two-day tour which will end tomorrow the 23rd of June 2021.
