Some Members of Parliament (MPs) were Tuesday, June 29 seen in fervent prayers, ostensibly against the spirit of LGBTQI+ ahead of the introduction of a Private Member’s Bill to criminalise homosexuality and its related activities.

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George and five other MPs have sponsored a bi-partisan Private Members Bill to proscribe and criminalise the advocacy and practice of homosexuality.

“It is our belief that all members of this House would support this Bill when it comes before the House,” Sam George, had on the floor of Parliament.

They said the Bill would seek to further strengthen Ghana’s legal jurisprudence and existing legislation on unnatural carnal knowledge to reflect the current state of affairs.

As the MPs readied to lay the bill Tuesday Morning, the Parliamentary Christian Fellowship met to have a prayer session before the bill was signed for onward introduction to parliament.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has assure the public that he will speak up any legislation that criminalizes the activities of LGBTQI+.
