The game of politics has visibly displayed the nature of political power. In the early part of the year 2021, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo retired the immediate former Auditor – General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo based on the claims and findings brought to him by the Board of the Audit Service that he reached the compulsory retirement age of 60 on 1st June 2020.
This development triggered a lot of comments and reactions in Ghana.
Recently, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo appointed Stephen Dapaah Addo to be the head of Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). This news contrasted the earlier actions of the President. Reacting to this news, Elikem Kotoko, a political activist made an interesting analysis.
This is what he said: ” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo asked the then Auditor General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo to go on retirement because he had turned 60 years today, the same President has appointed a 77 year old, Stephen Dapaa- Addo as the new EOCO boss. If you are a proud member of the NPP, unemployed youth and given data bundle to come and defend this, please doing with some finesse let me see something.”
