The Ghanaian clergyman who is now widely known as ‘Holy Kiss’ priest has asked for forgiveness from Ghanaians, the Anglican church and the female students he ‘defiled’ in a viral video days ago.
Rev. Fr Baltharzzar Obeng Larbi issued a statement on Thursday saying he was sincerely sorry for the incident and asked for forgiveness.
“I pray for forgiveness from all and sundry and plead that you hold me in your prayers during these trying times. May God bless us all,” the statement said.
He admitted that his actions were wrong and said he should have acted differently “even in the absence of COVID-19”.
“I seemed to have taken a number of things for granted. I did not think my behaviour through,” the statement added.
Rev. Fr Larbi, who was the chaplain of the college, has accordingly apologized to the Anglican Church, his Archbishop, the affected students, the entire college, and the general public.
Father Balthazar Obeng Larbi reportedly kissed the three Bible readers as a sign of appreciation for their hard work since level 100.
One of the victims while speaking to Starr FM she said the third student to be kissed in the video told her colleagues she is a virgin, that’s why she hesitated in allowing the priest to kiss her.
After the Priest kissed her, the student overly pissed with the development said she felt like her virginity has been broken by the unwholesome act by the seeming pervert man of God.
“The third girl the father kissed is a virgin and that’s why she gave her cheek to the father to kiss but he forced and kissed her lips. Afterward the incident, she said the father had broken her virginity” – the lady is reported to have said.
Additionally, he said the unfortunate incident happened during a church service by the College’s Chaplaincy Board in appreciation of the Level 300 students, who would be going for their Macro Teaching (Off-Campus Teaching Practice) when college resumed the next academic year.
“The three students seen in the video performed extraordinarily well and were, therefore, called to be appreciated by the Chaplain. An attempt to add a human touch resulted in the scene in the video,” Rev. Fr Larbi said.
Beyond that, the Chaplain also rendered an unqualified and sincere apology to “my Archbishop, the entirety of the Anglican Communion, the college, the affected students and their families, and the generality of the public.”
