Are mermaids real?

It’s possible that the original idea of mermaids came from sailors or divers who saw a Beluga whale,seen from this very particular angle.

In these images the belugas are graceful, elegant, and almost human-like in appearance, and from particular viewing angles it look like human-like legs fading into a fishtail. So, giving enough imagination let’s say there are beluga mermaids.
