Born on 8 June 1895, Santiago Bernabéu de Yeste was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Real Madrid and captained the team for many years, after which he also served as assistant manager, director and manager of the club.
He was later elected President of Real Madrid in 1943 and occupied the position for 35 years until his death on 2 June 1978.
