FrimpongThe Ashanti Regional Police Command has on the orders of the Regional Commander interdicted the Police officer who shot an Asante Kotoko fan at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
According to the Command, it takes a serious view of the incident and has commenced investigations into the action of the police officer.
The unfortunate shooting incident on Sunday 12th January, 2020 left one person injured and is currently receiving treatment at the Konfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi
The incident occurred when supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC went on a rampage
after their league match against Brekum Chelsea FC at the Stadium, damaging some
Police Vehicles and injuring some Police Officers with stones that were pelted at the
Police.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command in a statement issued by its PRO ASP Godwin Ahianyo reiterate its position on the need for professionalism of all persons involved in ensuring the safety of persons at public events, especially at the Stadium
The Command expressed its sympathy with the injured person’s family and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
It urged any person who has information, pictures or videos on the incident to send such material to telephone number 0244288019 to aid the police with investigations.
