A touch on the comprehensive sexuality education

The government of Ghana and UNESCO launched the CSE program this year to empower adolescent and young people to understand sex academically. I might be stepping on some few toes but it’s obvious the developed countries understand sex better than we do and maybe it’s the main reason for introducing the discipline this time around.

Ghana is a religious country where we frown on matters concerning the human body especially that of the females than corruption and other evils. It’s gradually turning into a debate on Social Media where some are for and others are against the program, but I think this has come to stay from the look of things and parents need to adopt a different approach as to how to impart sexual knowledge into their kids in the rightful manner.

It’s obvious that so many kids get burdened when sexual topics pop up and it’s not helping relationships in the country. It’s some times funny how parents are taken aback when kids talk about sex. There are instances where guys approach ladies and what comes to mind initially is about the guy taking advantage of their bodies or just to use and dump them, people sometimes battle their thoughts just to accept corrupt thinking when issues concerning sex arrives.

Currently, only a few of Ghanaians talk openly about sex, and it’s a bit pathetic. It is high time the girl child and the boy child understands what they are doing from an earlier stage, they should be made to understand the pros and cons of anything sex related, and the main reason is because you can’t drive sex away from society.

I am not playing double standards but I still blame pastors for not being open about the topic at church. Apart from the Roman catholic leaders and their practices, everyone is at liberty to enjoy sexual life though it must be healthy, but at churches within the country, the topic is demonized.

One of the promoters of this discipline Dr. Leticia Adelaide Appiah is of the idea that it is necessary for young ones to be prepared and given enough knowledge to make a healthy decision about sex which I for one think it’s beautiful thing to do, we don’t live in the minds of people to know when they are taking their decisions but we can nurture them to think positively when making those decisions without us.

We Ghanaians are quick to given negative judgment to every suggestion that is brought up, it is high time kids are introduced to this topic for them to understand the evils of rape. Dear beautiful Ghanaians, apart from Roman catholic fathers and sisters, we’re all involved in sex, it is high time we understand it to the core, pastors of churches should help in the Christian way and openly talk about sex when preaching.

Please talk about the good side too just like how offerings and other contributions are being taught, parents, the well-being of your children is your sole responsibility, through sex you were able to bring us to this world, just tell us about the good and evil of it but not just the latter. We need to start painting pictures as they appear.
