FrimpongAkwaboah is widely considered as one of the best Ghanaian songwriters of all time. He has written hit songs for a lot of mainstream artistes in the past before. Music lovers sometimes argue that Akwaboah should have been behind the scenes to write more hit songs for others and make money instead of becoming an artiste because his career has not hit off the way people anticipated.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central, the smooth-singing Akwaboah said he embraced music fully because of his vocals and the fact that songwriting doesn’t pay in Ghana.
He said if the structures in the music industry were very good, he would have continued with songwriting.
‘It is not good that I only write songs for people because in Ghana some channels don’t work. If it were to be abroad like by now I would still be making money from the song I wrote for Becca so that will urge you on to continue to write songs for other people,” he said.
