Ama Boahemaa did not bleach, poverty made her skin dark – Piesie Esther.

Piesie Esther has offered a feeble defense on behalf of her colleague Ama Boahemaa who was dragged not too long for the overwhelming change in her complexion.

Boahemaa, a veteran Ghanaian gospel artiste who thrilled Ghanaians with her spirit-filled back-to-back hit songs in the early 2000s surfaced recently after slumping to a hiatus from the music scene with lighter skin as opposed to her very dark complexion years ago.

The issue generated so much buzz online and divided opinions online. Boahemaa, it may be recalled, reportedly took a break from music and relocated to Germany.

While resuscitating the issue for the first time after months, Esther told Mona Gucci on Onua TV that it was poverty that darkened Ama Boahemaa’s skin and nothing else.

She retorted, “Maybe the fair complexion was in her blood. Just that poverty enveloped her real complexion. The soap she was using wasn’t favorable to her skin tone. Now she’s using good soap, as well as enjoying good weather. Hence her fair complexion”.
