Former Asante Kotoko SC player John Smith Bannerman has adviced Ghana Premier League giant’s Asante Kotoko SC to build an effective management team in order to conquer African once again.

Since 2002, Asante Kotoko SC have failed to win any trophy on the African soil being the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup. Their best performance was when they played in the Money Zone but lost to FC San Pedro in the 2019 campaign.

The 24-times Ghana Premier League winners despite poor outputs offlate, are not perturbed but still pushing for glory having agreed to play in the CAF Champions League next season.

Ahead of their difficult campaign, John Bannerman believes Asante Kotoko need Effective Management team to win trophies.

“There are three elements that help a club to be successful in terms of winning trophies”These include effective management, good players and the technical team”

“If the three work effectively it’s easy to win a trophy”, he told Hello FM.

He added; “The management has a duty of signing good players and ensuring that every player gets everything he needs including money. This is because the players should have a sound mind”

“In 1983, when we heard that we were going to face Al Ahly for the second time our captain Papa Arko approached the management that we want early camping and truly we had one month camping instead of the two weeks we had in previous games”

“The management approved and it helped us a lot”, Bannerman stated.

John Bannerman was a key member of Asante Kotoko SC 1983 squad that hailed the Porcupine Warriors flag to the world.
