Diella TekuIn anticipation of Ghana’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, several commercial banks, including Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) and Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), have announced the temporary suspension of in-branch banking services.
CBG confirmed that it will not provide its usual Saturday banking services on election day. Customers are advised to rely on the bank’s digital channels for transactions during this period.
ADB has similarly suspended in-branch banking services on December 7, with additional closures scheduled due to end-of-month maintenance. The bank has reassured customers that ATMs and online platforms will remain fully operational to meet their financial needs.
Both banks emphasized their commitment to supporting Ghana’s democratic process, recognizing the importance of the elections to national stability and development. Customers have been encouraged to leverage digital banking platforms for a seamless experience during this temporary adjustment.
This move by financial institutions reflects the nationwide impact of the general elections, with businesses across various sectors adjusting operations to accommodate the day’s activities. By maintaining digital and ATM services, the banks aim to balance customer convenience with their support for the electoral process.
