The High Court in Accra has sentenced Boigouna Aloys, a 47-year-old Burkinabe national, to life imprisonment for the murder of his German wife and their teenage daughter at their home in Kokrobite, Accra. The sentence was delivered by Justice Mary Maame Ekue Yanzuh after a seven-member jury unanimously found Aloys guilty on two counts of murder.

The tragic case unfolded following Aloys’s violent actions, which led to the deaths of his 53-year-old wife and 14-year-old daughter. Prosecutors, led by Assistant State Attorney Yvonne Yaachie Adomako, successfully presented compelling evidence through five witnesses, substantiating the charges against the accused. Aloys reportedly used a hammer to fatally strike his wife and then strangled his daughter, fearing she would alert authorities.

Following the murders, Aloys attempted to conceal his crime by burying the bodies on their 10-plot property, situated at the outskirts of Kokrobite. The horrific crime came to light when neighbors grew concerned over the sudden absence of the mother and daughter and were disturbed by a foul odor emanating from the compound. They promptly reported the situation to the police, who later uncovered the bodies.

Upon investigation, the police discovered Aloys’s confession, where he admitted to the murders, citing a dispute with his wife as the motive for the brutal act. He further confessed to strangling his daughter to prevent her from reporting the incident. The family had relocated to Ghana from Germany in early 2020 to settle on their newly acquired property.

The case has left the Kokrobite community in shock, with many struggling to comprehend the tragic fate that befell the family.
