Diella TekuThe ongoing anti-galamsey protests took a powerful turn on day three, as actor and politician John Dumelo, alongside social media influencer Afia Odo, lent their voices to the growing movement. What began as a grassroots effort by the pressure group, Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey, has now gained national attention with the support of these prominent figures. The demonstrators, full of energy, continue to march with singing and dancing, determined to shine a spotlight on the environmental devastation caused by illegal mining.
With illegal mining—or galamsey—continuing to wreak havoc on water bodies, forests, and farmland, the protestors are urging the government and local authorities to take immediate action. Dumelo and Afia Odo’s involvement has not only amplified the message but also brought new energy and urgency to the cause, inspiring many to join the movement.
As the protest continues to gain momentum, it’s clear that the fight against galamsey has become more than just a local issue—it’s a national call for environmental justice.
