Charles Owusu says he has resigned as Head of Monitoring Unit of the Forestry Commission with immediate effect.

The PPP stalwart dropped this news during a panel discussion on the Friday edition of Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”.

Charles Owusu was appointed by the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, who was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission and a former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

Mr. Owusu Afriyie, popularly called Sir John, passed away last year after reportedly contracting the deadly Coronavirus and was buried on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

Charles Owusu became the Head of Monitoring Unit of the Commission in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s first term and has since played instrumental role in preserving and restoring the country’s forest reserves.

He emphasized that his resignation has nothing to do with Sir John’s death but rather feels he has done an adequate job for someone else to continue his good works.

”As I currently sit here, I have written to the Forestry Commission that I want to rest. I have resigned from the Forestry Commission,” he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh.
