Prolific Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu has left English Premier League side Newcastle United after spending the entire 2020/2021 season without featuring in the first team.
It appears the football career of the 29-year-old gifted player is gradually grinding to a halt as no team has expressed interest in signing him.
Christian Atsu is one of the many players signed by Chelsea who has roamed the entire globe playing on loan for various clubs.
From Portugal to the Netherlands, Christian Atsu has played for Porto, Vitesse Arnhem, Malaga CF. In the English Premier League, the Black Stars player has played on loan for Bournemouth, Everton and Newcastle.
When he was finally signed by Newcastle in the 2017/2018 season after spending a year playing on loan from Chelsea there, many thought Christian Atsu’s career was beginning to take shape.
Well, with injuries setting in, Christain Atsu lost his position and when he recovered, there was no place for him in the Steve Bruce team. Subsequently, he has failed to make it into the Black Stars squad and has also lost his position to young talents like Samuel Owusu.
Announcing how bad he feels for leaving the club after his contract expiration, Christian Atsu has expressed sincere gratitude to the club and believes the future holds great things for him.
