FrimpongA community in the central region of Ghana has surprised many people after it emerged that the whole community has rejected an ultra-modern water pump just to still drink from their stream.
Kwansakrom in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District has a population of about 500 which made the District Chief Executive and Member of Parliament for the area thought it wise to provide them with portable drinking water.
But to the utmost surprise, the people in the community still go to the nearby stream to fetch water for their domestic use.
According to a source, the District Chief Executive and Member of Parliament provided 5 ultra-modern water pumps to 5 communities in the district at a cost of GHC 20,000.
Whiles the other communities namely Asebufokrom, Perekyerekye, Adukwakrom and Old Odonase have started using theirs, the people of Kwansakrom have rejected theirs because the DCE Madam Felicia Aba Hagan and MP Elvis Morris Donkoh are NPP members.
The decision by the community not to use the pump infuriated the District Chief Executive who ordered her people to padlock the pump.
The DCE Elvis Morris Donkoh has however tried to get the community to use the ultra-modern water pump.
“Whichever party that you belong to, whether National Democratic Congress, NPP or Convention People’s Party, the main focus of these political parties is to help our communities develop so if NPP is in power, join hands for the development of the community,” the unhappy lawmaker told his people.
