FrimpongFormer Ghanaian leader John Mahama has once again appealed to Ghanaians to obey official directive to stay at home to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Ghanaians are flouting the protocols of social distancing with reports of hundreds of people going to the beach over the weekend in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Movements have been restricted in Accra, Kumasi, Tema and Kasoa as the West African nation battles to fight the disease which has hit 566 cases as at April 12, 2020. The police has served notice it will be stringent in enforcing the lockdown since majority of Ghanaians are flouting the rules.
As part of efforts to get Ghanaians to stay safe, Mr. Mahama took to his Facebook to appeal to them to “reconsider that decision to go out.”
“We must all act to protect ourselves and help #StopTheSpread of #COVID19. It is not what someone else does, but what we all do. I am here to once again invite you to, please, stay home,” Mahama stressed.
He added: “Reconsider that decision to go out, and ask that person coming to you, to discuss the matter on phone or via a video call. Together, we can break the chain of infections.
Let’s also continue the routine of constantly washing your hands with soap and under running water, especially after you hold or come into contact with any commonly used surface. We can, together, win this fight against #COVID19.”
