Deadly Attack on Turkish Aerospace Site Leaves Four Dead

The Turkish Interior Ministry has confirmed that four people were killed and 14 others injured in a gun attack at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) compound near Ankara. The site, located in Kahramankazan, a hub for Turkey’s aerospace and defense technology, became the target of what authorities have labeled a “terrorist attack.”

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya condemned the assault, stating that two attackers were “neutralized” during crossfires with police forces who quickly surrounded the site. Yerlikaya expressed his sorrow over the loss of life, referring to the victims as “martyrs” and describing the incident as an attack on the nation’s security and technological capabilities.

CCTV footage showed one of the gunmen firing inside the building, escalating fears of terrorism targeting strategic industries.

TAI is a state-owned arms and aerospace technology firm located in Kahramankazan, about 17 miles (28km) north-west of Ankara.

As the state-owned TAI plays a critical role in arms and aerospace technology, the attack has raised broader concerns about national security vulnerabilities. The Turkish government has since heightened security measures in key locations across the country.
