The Deputy National Chief Imam, Sheikh Ahmad Kamaludeen has passed away.
He passed away on Saturday dawn at the age of 103.
The late Sheikh has already been laid to rest at the Awudome Cemetery in Accra in line with Islamic tradition.
Confirming the demise to Citi News, spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shiabu eulogised the astute Islamic cleric.
“Apart from being the Deputy National Chief Imam, he is an eminent scholar rooted in Aramic musicology and the knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence. He is someone who is known in his lifetime to have been conducting Quranic exigences to interpret the Quran,” he said.
The late Sheikh was laid to rest at the Awudome Cemetery in Accra in line with Muslim tradition.
The National Chief Imam officiated the funeral ceremony (Janazah).
Some members and executives of the two major political parties – New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), were in attendance.
Sheikh Kamauleen was an Islamic Cleric and the National Chief Imam’s childhood best friend and classmate.
He has been recognized in the West African Sub-region as one of the most learned Islamic teachers and clerics.
