The Advocates for Truth and Justice (ATJ), has called on government to prosecute the nine Ex- officials in the Mahama Administration for allegedly taking double salaries, which amounts to stealing contrary to Section 124 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29)
According to the group, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, concluded its investigations in 2018 and forwarded the docket to the Attorney General for advice.
The group in a press statement issued and jointly signed by Mr Agyemang Duah Isaac and Very Rev George Osei Mensah, Spokespersons for the group, regretted that the docket has for the past two years remained with the AG without an intent to prosecute them in accordance with the law
According to the group, the nine were part of a list of 22 former appointees who were named by the outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon Kennedy Agyapong as having engaged in the act.
The statement said Ghanaians are keenly interested in the double salary saga therefore government cannot hide it under the carpet.
The group which constitutes, media practitioners, medical practitioners, legal practitioners and psychologists, urged the Attorney General and Office of Special Prosecutor to jointly ensure such suspects are prosecuted without any further delay to fulfill the ‘equality before the law’ as enshrined in the 1992 constitution.
