Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed to elevating Kumawu to municipality status, addressing a long-standing petition from local chiefs. This pledge was made during his constituency tour of Kumawu yesterday, where he unveiled a series of ambitious development plans aimed at driving growth and creating opportunities for the area.

Central to Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Kumawu is the establishment of a nursing training college, a project he described as critical for advancing education and health sector development in the constituency. Additionally, he reiterated the NPP’s commitment to infrastructure development, with plans to improve the region’s road network and enhance civic services by upgrading Kumawu’s status to a municipality.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted his accountability-oriented approach, assuring the people of Kumawu that he would deliver on his promises during his term, with the intention of seeking their mandate again in subsequent elections. “I can contest again if I win the elections, but the same cannot be said for John Dramani Mahama. We plan to build a nursing training college in the Kumawu constituency, fix your roads, and upgrade Kumawu to a municipality. I will account for all these promises when I return to campaign for re-election,” he said.

As part of his visit, Dr. Bawumia also commissioned a new district assembly office, symbolizing the government’s dedication to strengthening local governance and service delivery in Kumawu. The new facility is expected to provide an efficient administrative base for coordinating development projects and responding to the needs of residents.

Dr. Bawumia’s commitments come at a pivotal time, as the NPP seeks to consolidate its support in key constituencies ahead of the upcoming elections. His proposals for Kumawu align with his broader campaign message of continuity and development, positioning the NPP as the party capable of delivering tangible results for Ghanaians.

The people of Kumawu now await the materialization of these promises, hopeful that the proposed projects will mark a turning point for the constituency and pave the way for sustainable development.
