The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for unity among party members to ensure a resounding victory in the December 7, 2024, general elections.

Dr. Bawumia made this passionate appeal during his campaign stop in the Fomena Constituency, Ashanti Region, on Friday. His visit is part of an extensive campaign tour aimed at consolidating the party’s base and energizing supporters ahead of the polls.

The Fomena Constituency holds a unique political significance for the NPP. Its current Member of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, entered the 8th Parliament as an independent candidate after breaking away from the party. However, Amoako has since rejoined the NPP and seeks to contest the 2024 elections under the party’s ticket, sparking hopes of reclaiming the seat for the ruling party.

Addressing enthusiastic supporters, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the critical role of unity in securing both the presidential and parliamentary seats. “Unity is our strength. What I have witnessed here today gives me confidence that we will emerge victorious. By midnight on December 7, we will celebrate an NPP victory, with Andrew Asiamah as the next Member of Parliament for Fomena.”

He further lauded the constituents for their show of solidarity and love, describing it as a reassurance of victory. “I will sleep peacefully tonight because the unity and determination I have seen here are a testament to our collective commitment to win.”

Dr. Bawumia’s tour in the Ashanti Region, a stronghold of the NPP, underscores his strategy to solidify the party’s support while addressing concerns about internal rifts. His message of reconciliation and collaboration aims to strengthen the NPP’s chances of retaining power in both the presidency and Parliament.

As the 2024 general elections approach, the call for unity and the strategic reintegration of key members like Andrew Asiamah highlight the NPP’s focus on presenting a formidable front to secure victory in one of the most pivotal elections in Ghana’s history.
