What supposed to be a peaceful talk between two chiefs in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region; Nana Owusu Afriyie of Ejisu-Manhyia and Nana Kwadwo Kwaa II of Detibi over a disputed parcel of land in the turned into fisticuffs.

According to an eyewitness, the chiefs who were expected to exhibit a high sense of maturity in view of their stature in society both lost their cool and started calling each other names in a meeting aimed at resolving the issue.

They reported to have been pointed fingers at each other’s eyes and almost got physical but for the timely intervention of their subjects in the ensuing melee

Speaking on Kumasi-based Kingdom FM monitored, Dr. Adu Sarpong told listeners that the Odikro of Detibi, Nana Kwadwo Kwaa II and Odikro of Manhyia were separated by other elders in the meeting tasked by the Omanhene of Ejisu to settle the long-standing disagreement.

“Everything was near bloody. First of all, I am appealing to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to step in. As peace loving people, we don’t want to spit over anything”, Dr. Adu Sarpong narrated calling police to beef up security in the area to avoid possible calamity.

This comes after one person died from gunshot wounds after a violent clash between the Adwumakase Kese and Bomfa communities over land in the region few months ago.

The youth of Bomfa and Adwumakase have been engaged in reprisal attacks over a land dispute.
