Actress Lydia Forson has asked Ghanaians to be vigilant and not allow themselves to be taken advantage of by politicians during these times of pain.
Several leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have condemned the killing of 3 persons at Ejura in the Ashanti region after soldiers opened gunfire on protesters in that part of the country.
They have blamed the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his poor leadership which has led to the escalation of a matter which could have been managed well.
But reacting to this, Lydia Forson cautioned Ghanaians not to be taken advantage of by politicians during this time.
“DO NOT allow politicians to use this as their moment. DO NOT fall for their fake support. DO NOT allow them to use this to score political points. Hold them ALL ACCOUNTABLE,” Lydia Forson said.
Background
Mohammed Ibrahim, a known member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP)and a recent activist against the failing of the NPP, was found badly beaten and left to his fate in front of his house. He later died in hospital, provoking massive protests in the town of Ejura.
Before his killing, Kaaka used the #FixTheCountry to expose ills and lack of government action in the Municipality of Ejura Sekyeredumase.
He had allegedly received threats from persons suspected to be aligned to the NPP and loyal to the current Municipal Chief Executive(MCE), who was at the receiving end of Mr Kaaka’s criticism and activism on social media.
After his burial, the youth of Ejura hit the street to protest his death and to also drum home the need for the President to remove the Municipal Chief Executive but they were met with open fire by Soldiers who had been sent there to calm them down leading to the death of two persons and several others injured.
