Special Assistant to the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Abeka Dauda Avegyene says its possible that workers of the Electoral Commission deliberately sabotaged the efforts of the Electoral Commissioner.
In an exclusive interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show, Abeka Dauda stated that it was highly possible some workers of the Electoral Commission deliberately deleted some names of Ghanaians from the new voters register in order to dent the image of the Electoral Commission and its work after a section of political parties and politicians fiercely kicked against the exercise.
“It’s possible some people who owe allegiance to the opposition party may had played a role in the taking of some names from the voters register in order to discredit the whole process.
According to Abeka Dauda the Electoral Commission chair, Jean Mensa was not present at the various polling stations while the registration exercises was ongoing which gave some workers the chance to do a disservice to the state.
“I strongly believe there were some EC workers who connived with the opposition parties to omit some electorates names from the register just to pant the EC black to the general public.”
He there admonished Ghanaians not to entirely blame the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensah for the New Voters Registration exercise shortcomings and therefore encouraged Ghanaians as a matter of urgency to go check their names and details in the register.
