FrimpongThe Minister of youth and sports Hon Isaac Asiamah says, the Government together with his Ministry have plans for athletes who are affected by this pandemic.
In a press conference to discuss the President directives issued during his speech in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic for resumption of Non- Contact sports, he listed Non-Contact sports that can resume they are: Athletes, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Gold, Power Lifting, Weight Lifting, Cycling, Draughts, Para Sports, Rowing and Canoeing, Baseball and Softball, Horse Racing and Squash. All this Non- Contact Sports can start training and not do competitions.
“Government considered certain factors in easing restrictions on Non-Contact Sports Activities. Football wasn’t factored because we realized they don’t have the financial Muscle to continue with their activities”
The Minister also stated that, the stimulus packages for Small and Medium business (SME) doesn’t include Sports. However the Ministry is discussing with Government to support athletes.
