Former Asante Kotoko Trainer appointed Blackstars stop-gap coach

Ex-Ghanaian international Charles Kwabla Akonnor has been appointed an interim coach of the Black Stars team, Brainysports can confirm.

The former Asante Kotoko SC trainer will be the stop-gap coach of the senior national team till a new coach is hired by the Ghana Football Association. This became necessary when, the FA decided to dissolve various National team technical team.

The Ghana Football Association dissolved the technical staff of all the national teams on Thursday night.

The 45-year-old Akonnor comes into the Black Stars job with vast experience in the profession he learned in Germany during his time in the Bundesliga.

The gaffer came to the limelight when he picked up with Sekondi XI Wise. He later joined Hearts of Oak, before Dreams FC. He had stint with Ashantigold and Asante Kotoko.

He was appointed to the technical staff of the Black Stars by Coach Kwesi Appiah as the deputy head coach after the axing of Ibrahim Tanko.
