Gennaro Gattuso is set to leave Fiorentina just two weeks after accepting the job over a reported dispute over transfers.
The 43-year-old manager was announced as the new Viola coach on May 25, following his departure from Napoli where he failed to guide his side to the Champions League.
Gattuso was set to officially take over on July 1 ahead of the new season but had already started discussions over transfer plans at the club.
According to several reports, including Sky Sport Italia, Gattuso will leave the club after just over 20 days at the club after falling out with club owner Rocco Commisso over transfer targets.
The Sky Sport report claims Gattuso and his agent Jorge Mendes had recommended that Fiorentina sign the likes of Porto midfielder Sergio Oliveira and Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes, but Commisso wants cheaper targets.
Reports also claim former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is one of the options lined up to replace Gattuso should his exit be confirmed this week.
Other names listed as Gattuso’s successor include former Lyon manager Rudi Garcia, who has been linked to the vacant Everton manager position, while Andrea Pirlo is also available after being sacked by Juventus last month.
