GES Announces Early Start for 2024/2025 Academic Year 46

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has introduced an adjusted academic calendar for the 2024/2025 school year, aimed at aligning with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) schedule. This adjustment ensures that final-year students can sit for their exams in the traditional May/June period.

In a statement signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director for the Schools and Instruction Division, the new school year will commence on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, for all Senior High Schools. The decision affects both incoming first-year students in single-track and transitional schools, as well as continuing students in single-track institutions.

Additionally, first-year students completing the 2023/2024 academic year in single-track and transitional schools will wrap up their term on Monday, October 28, 2024. GES has tasked Regional Directors with informing Heads of Schools to ensure a seamless transition to the new schedule.
