The Ghana Police Service has lauded the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and their supporters for their exemplary conduct during the final rallies held in Accra on December 5, 2024.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police highlighted the peaceful and orderly nature of the events, describing them as a testament to the unwavering commitment of stakeholders to Ghana’s democratic principles.

The Police Service expressed gratitude not only to the political parties but also to the general public, especially motorists, for their cooperation during traffic diversions necessitated by the rallies. “We commend the patience and understanding displayed by citizens, which contributed significantly to the smooth execution of these events,” the statement read.

Acknowledging their own personnel, the Police leadership praised the professionalism and dedication of the officers deployed to ensure law, order, and security. Their efforts, the statement noted, created a safe environment that allowed all participants to engage freely and peacefully.

As the nation prepares to vote on December 7, 2024, the Ghana Police Service called on all political parties, supporters, and citizens to maintain the same spirit of discipline and patriotism.

“Let us work together to ensure a peaceful election that reflects the democratic values we cherish as Ghanaians,” the Police urged.

Reiterating its commitment to a safe and orderly electoral process, the Ghana Police Service pledged to uphold the country’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa. The Service assured citizens of its readiness to handle the polls with the highest level of integrity, ensuring a secure environment for voters and stakeholders alike.

The peaceful conclusion of the rallies serves as a hopeful precursor to a harmonious electoral process, as Ghanaians look forward to exercising their democratic rights.
