After the President of the land, his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo abandoned Ghana’s Presidential jet for Airbus ACJ320neo aircraft, many Ghanaians started questioning the reason for neglecting our own private jet for a foreign luxurious aircraft.
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that the Airbus ACJ320neo the President used for his travels to France, Belgium, and South Africa cost the taxpayer £15,000 an hour which amounted to over 2 million Ghana cedis. Meanwhile, this is the same government that explained to Ghanaians that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected our economy so they have to introduce new taxes and increase taxes but cannot increase the salaries of workers.
The Ghanaian people were still waiting for the reason why President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo abandoned the State private jet for a foreign private jet and for about weeks, the President had been on various occasions but did not clarify this issue. Ghanaians have also for the period captured the President using the State private jet for his Africa travels. For example, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo used Ghana’s private to pay a visit to Burkina Faso to console them when terrorists attacked them.
So what is the problem of the private jet that it can be used for Africa travels but cannot be used for international? It has now been revealed that the only problem with the Ghana private jet is with the showers system.
After listening to Hon. Nitiwul responds to the question of the private jet in Parliament yesterday, Wednesday, 16th June 2021, we now know at the very least that the Presidential Jet is in great condition and was available for President Akufo-Addo’s trip to France, Belgium, and South Africa except that it wasn’t luxurious enough to provide the President a shower. How sad and disappointed Ghanaians were when they came in across this information.
It was upon this that Tilapia the Cartoonist has drawn this cartoon to show how President Nana Addo was seriously enjoying himself in the foreign aircraft.
Check out reactions from some Ghanaians below:
A Facebook user known as Priscilla Nkrumah reacted that “So how was he traveling before he became president?”
Another Facebook user known as Cook Prince reacted that “Protecting the Presidential Opulence”.
