In his final New Year’s address as President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lauded Ghana’s economic rebound, emphasizing a strong 7.2% growth rate in the third quarter of 2024 and a projected annual growth rate of 6.8%. The President attributed this success to strategic government interventions and the resilience of the Ghanaian people.

“Our economy is rebounding impressively as demonstrated by the remarkable 7.2% growth in Q3 of 2024, with the year’s growth rate projected at 6.8%. These achievements are more than statistics; they represent brighter futures for our people,” the President stated in his address on December 31.

Acknowledging the challenges of recent years, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the collective perseverance that has driven Ghana’s recovery. He cited the COVID-19 pandemic as a pivotal moment that tested the nation’s resolve, noting how Ghanaians came together to overcome adversity.

“The post-COVID-19 years have tested us to our limit but reminded us of our strength as a people who rise together, no matter the odds,” he remarked.

The President emphasized that the recovery was not without sacrifice, recognizing the difficulties faced by citizens. However, he commended the government’s strategic measures for placing Ghana back on a path to prosperity.

President Akufo-Addo described the growth indicators as a testament to Ghana’s potential for sustained development. He called on Ghanaians to remain hopeful and unified as the country enters a new chapter.

“As we step into 2025, I encourage us all to hold on to the hope that’s carried us this far,” he said, urging citizens to continue supporting efforts to build a resilient and inclusive economy.

The robust growth figures underline Ghana’s position as one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies. As President Akufo-Addo concludes his tenure, his administration leaves behind a legacy of recovery, resilience, and hope, setting the stage for continued progress in the years ahead.

This economic resurgence serves as a beacon of optimism, reflecting not only policy successes but also the unwavering spirit of the Ghanaian people.
