FrimpongThe Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that the President is in talks with stakeholders on reopening of schools soon.
“The government is considering reopening schools. The President is engaging with stakeholders to know the way forward, he said”.
He made this revelation in an Instagram live Q&A session with Ghanaians on Sunday, May 17th.
This add up to a subsequent update on a statement from the Ghana Education Service calling on leadership of teacher bodies like GNAT, NAGRAT among others, to contribute ideas on the safety measures and security if students are allowed to go back to school.
According to the Minister, the government will be considering regular testing on kids when schools resume and will also have to make sure every student is equipped with face masks before reporting to school.
The Minister acknowledged that the decison and measures are a bit complicated and assured the Ghanaian populace that, “the President will update us soon on the matter.”
Ghana in the early months of March closed all schools, universities and suspended public gatherings. These were as part of measures to stop the spread of the deadly pandemic coronavirus.
